It's Post Time!!
We are pleased to inform our many harness racing owners, trainers, drivers, caretakers and fans that live harness racing has been cleared to begin as early as June 1st! In early May the Department Of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry submitted a plan to the Governor's committee to safely reopen Maine, on behalf of Executive Director of the MSHRC Henry Jennings and the harness racing industry. The approved risk mitigation plan contains strict safety protocol designed for racing at Scarborough Downs (without fans present) to begin the season. We expect all participants to review that plan, and carry out those safety measures at all times. The MHHA & MSBOA have given Scarborough Downs complete authority to exclude any participants who refuse to follow the strict guidelines. Please remind everybody that if you are not in the paddock, you should not come to the track until a plan for spectators is reviewed and approved (we're working on that now).We suspect that the first condition sheet could be out as early as this afternoon for next weeks live racing. The draw could be as early as Friday afternoon, so be prepared to act immediately. Denise Terry asked that all owners, trainers and drivers please fill out the purse authorization forms and tax forms and email them back to Scarborough Downs, in order to limit person to person interaction. You can email those forms to Denise Terry at dterry@scarboroughdowns.com.It's hard to believed it's been six months since horses have gone behind the gate. We have been given a great opportunity to get back to doing what we do, so please familiarize yourself with the plan and adhere to it. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The list of individuals to thank that has made this possible would be too many to list, but it's safe to say it has been a total industry effort . Please follow the MHHA, Scarborough Downs and USTA over the coming days, as things will now develop quicky.
