Rest in Peace William Hathaway

The MHHA is sad to report the recent passing of one of our Association's

past presidents William J. Hathaway of Turner Maine. He lost his brief battle with pancreatic cancer on July the 29th while he and his wife Sharon were residing at their Florida address. Bill headed our Association through a very difficult time. When he took on his role as president, the Association was in a dire financial situation.  Due to Bill's relationships with industry leaders at Harness Horsemen’s International,  he was able to get financial support that kept our Association from becoming non-existent. Bill was also instrumental in the passing of the Racino referendum as well as the legislation that followed, which without  it would have undoubtedly meant the end of our industry as we know it. Bill's rough around the edges working class style made him the perfect negotiator for his time.  For all of his efforts, we will be forever grateful. Our deepest condolences to Sharon and the Hathaway family.
